Who Am I?
Roystone J. Martinez | College Counselor & Educational Consultant
Roystone J. Martinez is a dedicated college counselor with a deep passion for educational access and student success. As a first-generation college student, he experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating the selective college admissions process, which inspired his lifelong mission to guide students and families through this journey with expertise, strategy, and care.
With degrees from Boston College (B.A.), Harvard University (M.Ed.), and Columbia University (M.A.), Roystone has spent his career in college admissions, student affairs, and first-generation student support. He has held key roles in higher education, including Associate Director of Admission and Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment at Emmanuel College, where his leadership increased recruitment and retention rates. He was also the Founding Director of the R.I.S.E. Program, which exceeded the college’s academic and graduation benchmarks.
Transitioning to high school college counseling, Roystone became Lead College Counselor at a charter high school in New York City, where he cultivated a strong college-going culture and helped students gain admission to highly selective colleges and prestigious programs such as QuestBridge, Posse, Horatio Alger, USC Bovard Scholars, Thrive Scholars, and Telluride Association Summer Program. In 2023, he expanded his impact by launching his own educational consulting practice, providing personalized guidance to students navigating the complexities of college admissions.
Roystone specializes in strategic college list development, essay coaching, financial aid advising, and scholarship guidance, ensuring that students—regardless of background—find the best-fit college where they can thrive academically, socially, and financially.
